Genshin Impact's Version 7.2 special program aired on October 23 at 12:00 UTC. It brought three codes, more screen time for the two new Snezhnaya characters and the date the update goes live.
The official teaser for the version talks about destruction, fury and life, and the name of the update already sets the tone of the story. HoYoverse had said before the stream that the program would cover the new content of the version and hand out codes during the broadcast.
What the special program showed
Most of the reveals came before the live itself. Mitya and Valeriy got their character cards at the end of September, and the stream was where HoYoverse showed more of what they do in combat.
The program also walked through the new content of 7.2. HoYoverse had promised details on the version itself and codes along the transmission, and both showed up.
The three codes from the stream
We have 300 Primogems in codes this time, split across three of them:
- ExpertMitya: 100 Primogems and 5 Hero's Wit
- HourOfRuin: 100 Primogems and 10 Mystic Enhancement Ore
- PhotoTime: 100 Primogems and 50,000 Mora
They expire on October 26 at 04:00 UTC, so don't leave them for the end of the week. You need Adventure Rank 10 and a linked HoYoverse account, and each code is tied to the server of the account you use, so check that you picked the right one before confirming.
Other codes active on today's list give different rewards, including smaller amounts of Mora. Use the list as a reference, but only type in codes that appeared on the stream or on official channels.
How to redeem them
There are two ways to use a code, and both land in the same place:
- On the official redemption site: log in with your HoYoverse account, choose the server and the character name, paste the code and confirm.
- In game, from the Paimon menu: Settings, Account, Redeem Code.
Rewards arrive in the in-game Mail. The Mail only keeps them for a limited time, so open the attachments the same day you redeem. It takes ten seconds and saves you from losing the Primogems because you forgot the mailbox existed.
Mitya and Valeriy
Mitya is a 5-star Electro character who fights with a catalyst. He is the main addition of the version and should be the most wanted name on the character banners.
Valeriy is the other new character, a 4-star who is also Electro. He protects the team with a shield and works as support, so you can read him as an option for anyone already using Alyosha in reaction teams. If you don't have the character, the rarity gap weighs, but he usually asks less of your builds.
In the first phase of banners, Mitya and Valeriy debut and Furina returns in a rerun. The second phase brings reruns of Zibai and Linnea, plus a Chronicled Wish for Natlan. If you are sitting on Intertwined Fates, decide calmly: Valeriy joins the standard character pool later, which changes how much a 4-star copy is worth to you now.
When 7.2 arrives
Version 7.2 arrives on November 4, on every platform where the game is available. Maintenance starts on November 3, and in some regions you can start playing the version on the night of the 3rd.
The first half of the version's banners runs from November 4 to November 24, according to the calendar published by the Japanese wiki. The exact banner switch date should be confirmed in the game itself, so check before saving Intertwined Fates for a specific phase.
